A groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 5 at the site of an old motel on Moreland Avenue near I-20 that will soon be redeveloped into the Ralph David House. A $550,000 investment from the BeltLine Tax Allocation District (TAD) Increment Fund, managed by Invest Atlanta, will finance the adaptive reuse development, which will include 54 permanently supportive housing units reserved for those earning 30% of area median income (AMI) or less and who were previously unhoused.
According to Dr. Eloisa Klementich, president and CEO of Invest Atlanta, this project represents some of the many innovative ways Atlanta is serving the homeless population and supporting Mayor Dickens’ goal to build or preserve 20,000 affordable housing units by 2030. “We continue to think creatively with projects like Ralph David House and 184 Forsyth Street, a soon-to-be-completed homeless housing village out of shipping containers,” says Klementich, “to ensure more homeless residents receive the housing and support they deserve faster.”

Apartments in the Ralph David House will open to residents in fall of 2024.
